Trevor Bayne Michigan Report
• Diamond Waltrip Racing’s Trevor Bayne, driving the No. 99 Out Pet Care Toyota finished 11th—stays eighth in points.
Trevor Bayne Race Summary: No. 99 Out Pet Care Toyota driver Trevor Bayne posted an 11th-place finish Saturday in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Michigan International Speedway. The 19-year-old Diamond-Waltrip driver appeared destined for a top-three finish, but a caution in the final laps jumbled the field. Bayne pitted for four tires while some stayed on the track. He restarted the race 14th with less than 10 laps remaining. Bayne raced up to 11th when the checkered flag fell. Bayne remained eighth in points. The Nationwide Series returns to action Friday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.
• Bayne started 8th then climbed into the top five by lap 50.
• Bayne was one of the fastest cars on the track especially on long green flag runs.
• Moved into the top three and raced third with 12 laps left in the race when the caution fell.
• Pitted for four tires and restarted the race in 14th place.
• Fought for clean air on the restart and climbed to 11th when checked flag fell.
BAYNE QUOTE: “We had a really good Out! Pet Care Camry today and were able to run up front all afternoon. It was a really tough call by Jerry (Baxter, crew chief) there at the end. We really thought that four tires would give us what we needed to get up front, but other guys only took two tires and that was the difference. We ran well all weekend and I think we had a car that could have finished in the top-five.”
