Trevor Bayne, No. 99 OUT! Pet Care Toyota Camry - finished 27th - now 11th in points.
Trevor Bayne Race Summary: No. 99 Out! Pet Care Toyota driver Trevor Bayne finished 27th in the NASCAR Nationwide series race at Daytona International Speedway Friday night. Bayne raced in the top-five and appeared destined for a top-10 finish, but contact with another driver on the final lap caused heavy damage and cost him several spots. The 19-year-old Diamond-Waltrip Racing driver impressed throughout the race running in the top five and avoiding trouble in the debut race of the series’ new cars. Bayne, the youngest fulltime driver in the series, is 11th in the championship point standings. The Nationwide series next heads to Chicagoland Speedway for Friday night’s race.
TREVOR BAYNE, No. 99 OUT! Pet Care Toyota
• Bayne qualified 12th and raced his way into the top 10 by lap 43
• Ran has high as fourth during the race.
• Like most drivers, Bayne fought an ill-handling race car for the majority of the race.
• Friday was Bayne’s first full race at Daytona. In February another car ended Bayne’s race after six laps.
• Moved down one spot, to 11th, in the Nationwide championship point standings
BAYNE QUOTE: “Our OUT! Pet Care Toyota was dancing all over the place tonight. We just couldn’t find a happy medium. However, I think a lot of other drivers were fighting the same thing. I think we had a car that could have finished in the top 10 but we got wrecked. We learned a lot about the new Nationwide Series car this weekend that will help us in the future. Finishing a race at Daytona has a lot to do with luck and it just wasn’t on our side tonight.”
